There was a recent breakthrough in DNA research and what is being called "synthetic life." Here are two news articles on the subject:
Based on the video you will watch in class ponder and answer the following questions (especially the last 3!):

- What is Life?
- Can we pare it down to its most basic components?
- Can we digitize it?
- Can we regenerate life or generate life out of the digital world?
- What is the ethical consideration of this technology? In other words:
- What do we stand to gain from this technology?
- What could we loose with this technology?
